Relief Sweeps Delhi: Police Crack Bomb Threat Case in GK School, Identifying Teen Culprit
Breakthrough in Greater Kailash Bomb Threat: 14-Year-Old Student Identified
Delhi Police have achieved a significant development in the recent bomb threat case targeting Summer Fields School in Greater Kailash. The preliminary investigation has unveiled that a 14-year-old student is behind the threatening email. According to police sources, the student disliked attending school and sent the bomb threat email, including the names of two additional schools to make the threat appear legitimate. The investigation is ongoing.
The incident unfolded on August 2, when an email was received by the school around midnight, claiming that an explosive device had been planted on the school premises. Police are continuing their inquiries into the motive and the method used to send the email.
This incident is part of a worrying trend of bomb threats in the region. On July 30, the Somnath Express, operating between Jammu and Rajasthan, was delayed for six hours due to an anonymous bomb threat, causing the train to be halted at Kasu Begu railway station and passengers to be evacuated. This threat was later determined to be a hoax.
Similarly, on July 28, a bomb scare disrupted outer Delhi when a cluster bus operating on route number 961 received a threat call, alleging a bomb on board. The Delhi Fire Service responded promptly, but the threat was unfounded.
Another incident occurred on July 20, when Kendriya Vidyalaya at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)-Indore received an email threatening to blow up the school on Independence Day. School authorities swiftly reported the threat to Simrol police station.
In May 2024, approximately 100 schools across Delhi and NCR were targeted with bomb threat emails, causing widespread alarm. These threats were also communicated via email and have since been under police scrutiny.
The recent surge in bomb threat incidents highlights the need for stringent measures and thorough investigations to prevent panic and ensure the safety of educational institutions and public transport services. Authorities urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities promptly.
