Guwahati: Prof. Kandarpa Das Honored as ‘Ambassador of Russian Education and Science’
Guwahati: Prof. Kandarpa Das, the vice-chancellor of Girijananda Chowdhury University, has been awarded the esteemed honorary title of ‘Ambassador of Russian Education and Science’ by the Russian Council of the Consortium of Educational and Scientific Organizations. Prof. Das, a Jawaharlal Nehru University alumnus, earned his doctorate in Russian Literature from Moscow State University and is also a Fulbright Scholar (2015).
The esteemed title was communicated by Prof. V. M. Filipov, President of the Patrice Lumumba People’s Friendship University in Moscow, who extended congratulations to Dr. Das. He has been invited to the formal ceremony in Moscow on November 27-28, 2024. The Consortium will bear the expenses for air travel, accommodation, and hospitality.
The Russian House in New Delhi has also congratulated Prof. Das, highlighting the honor’s rarity. Prof. Das is the sole Indian among 13 international scholars from countries like Burkina Faso, Vietnam, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and others, to receive this recognition.
Notably, Prof. Das had previously been awarded the Pushkin Medal by Russia for his contributions to advancing the Russian language globally.
