Meghalaya Marvel: Shillong College Triumphantly Celebrates 60 Years of Inspiring Science Education
Shillong College concluded its yearlong Diamond Jubilee celebrations on July 23, marking six decades of excellence in science education. The culmination of the festivities featured a two-day National Workshop dedicated to the integration of SWAYAM and credit transfer systems, in alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
The event saw the presence of Meghalaya’s Deputy Chief Minister, Sniawbhalang Dhar, who graced the occasion as the chief guest. In his address, Dhar underscored the transformative role of technology in education, particularly emphasizing the SWAYAM portal’s potential to enhance digital skills among both students and instructors.
“The state government is committed to creating opportunities for young minds and enterprises,” declared Dhar, highlighting initiatives such as the Chief Minister’s e-Champion Challenge. He urged students to view challenges as avenues for growth and to persist in their educational endeavors.
Health and Family Welfare Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh attended the event as the guest of honour. Lyngdoh concentrated her remarks on the pressing issue of unemployment among the youth, informing attendees of various ongoing government initiatives designed to aid unemployed, educated young people nationwide.
Organized by the college’s Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), the workshop delved into the theme “Integration and Use of SWAYAM and Credit Transfer in the Context of NEP 2020.” The subject matter is closely aligned with the broad educational reforms proposed under the NEP 2020, aimed at modernizing and enhancing the quality of education across India.
Overall, the workshop served as a platform for educators, policymakers, and students to discuss and strategize ways to implement these new educational paradigms effectively. The successful conclusion of Shillong College’s Diamond Jubilee not only commemorated its rich legacy but also set the stage for future advancements in educational excellence.
