Transparency Triumphs: Surge in Applicants for Assam Grade III & IV Posts, Hails CM
Assam CM Attributes High Exam Applicants to Transparency
Guwahati: Assam’s Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, credited this year’s substantial surge in applications for Grade III and IV recruitment exams to the transparent processes employed during similar exams in 2022. Scheduled to commence in September, the current exam aims to fill approximately 12,000 posts, with over 11 lakh candidates expected to participate.
In a press conference, Sarma emphasized the challenging nature of the upcoming exam, noting it as one of the largest recruitment exams in the country, second only to Uttar Pradesh, which conducted exams for around 18 lakh applicants due to its larger population.
A significant change for this year’s exam is the introduction of negative marking, which was not implemented in 2022. Sarma also highlighted the absence of application fees as another reason for the increased number of applicants, underscoring the growing trust in the state’s transparent recruitment process.
Reassuring candidates, Sarma mentioned that separate recruitment exams for police, health, and education sectors would be efficiently managed without any issues. He cited the Assam Direct Recruitment Commissions for Analogous Posts in Class-III and Class-IV Act, 2021, as instrumental in streamlining recruitment, reducing costs, and expediting the process.
The Chief Minister also addressed the exam pattern, confirming that despite initial announcements of a three-stage process akin to the Assam Public Service Commission exam, the format would remain consistent with 2022’s structure: a written exam followed by a viva-voce.
Sarma concluded by affirming that these reforms have significantly altered the state’s job landscape, fostering people’s trust in the government’s ability to provide fair and transparent employment opportunities.
